Nature Play
Playful Wandering
about event.
Young children learn the most about nature when they can experience it on their own terms and in a playful way. Each class will have a learning activity/craft and plenty of time for exploration. Each class will end with a book and a snack. Sibling discounts apply. A parent/guardian is expected to stay during this class.
Notes Parents/guardians may bring younger children but must supervise them during the class. Although we will only go on short hikes, please note that the terrain at Grailville is not especially toddler friendly and is definitely not stroller friendly.
Footwear that can get wet and a reusable water bottle are highly recommended. No flip flops or slides are allowed. Good shoes for warm weather include hiking sandals, water shoes, or crocs. For cooler weather, rubber boots are good and for cold weather, insulated rubber boots are best. Wear old clothes (kids will get wet and dirty) and dress for the weather. Classes will take place outside except in heavy rain and storms. It is a good idea to bring a change of clothes and extra shoes.

WE BELIEVE:
Each child has unique gifts to share with the world.
Kids need time and space to find their strengths.
Kids need time to explore outside, get dirty, and use their imaginations.
Kids need adults who help them learn they are powerful, strong, respected, and they have a voice.
Kids need a space where they believe their ideas are heard and where they feel safe sharing their ideas.
Kids need opportunities to explore & make connections with the natural world around them.
Kids need a place where they get the chance to be the expert.
Kids need a place they can feel accepted no matter what makes them different.
Learning to work with animals instills confidence and responsibility; and teaches determination and patience.
Keeping classes small ensures everyone gets attention and can get to know everyone else.
Kids need a sense of community and of belonging.
Strong family connections create strong youth.
