Winter Break Comedy Camps
The Second City
about event.
The Second City’s signature Comedy Camps for kids are jam-packed with fun & games!
Campers explore the fundamentals of improv as taught and performed at The Second City and develop skills like creative thinking, self-confidence, listening, brainstorming, team building, empathy, and communication, all while having loads of laughs. They’re introduced to basic scene structure, the art of storytelling and character development through the study of classic Second City scenes and other written materials.
Mornings usually start off with improvisation before moving into comedy writing and specialty skills (like stand-up comedy or clowning) after lunch. There are also breaks built into the morning and afternoon sessions.
Kids are encouraged to explore the freedom of movement and self-expression while also developing a better understanding of theatricality and onstage performance techniques. Every day includes exciting new activities!

The Second City.
It all started with children’s games. Rooted in the groundbreaking improvisational games of Viola Spolin The Second City opened its doors on a snowy Chicago night in December of 1959, and a comedy revolution began. Co-founded by Bernie Sahlins, Howard Alk and Spolin's son Paul Sills, the small cabaret theater grew to become the most influential and prolific comedy empire in the world, developing an entirely unique way of creating art and fostering generation after generation of superstars.
